Security Door Locks

High-quality security door locks are indispensable in today’s age. They provide security and safety like no other tool or appliance. Door locks act as barriers and ensure the safety of your home or workspace while maintaining privacy. Efficiency and pricing are important considerations if you are looking for door locks for your home.

Nearly two million homes are broken into each year; therefore, fully understanding the specific differences between varying types of security door locks can help you make an informed decision for your home or workspace. Additionally, in case you are in the door lock installation business or a locksmith, understanding these crucial details can help you make informed decisions for your customers as well as enhance your ability to maintain them making yourself even more valuable to them and your community.

The number of lock options can be overwhelming for many people. There are various kinds of door locks and many security factors and finishes to take into consideration before buying. We will discuss the different kinds of security door locks you should consider in order to buy the system that is best for your needs.

Deadbolts

Deadbolts are often a popular choice for external doors. Deadbolts are available in three main varieties: single cylinder, double cylinder, and lockable thumb turn. The mechanism of a single cylinder deadbolt a rosary or thumb turn on the inside, so you can get through without the key and key cylinder on the outside, so you can get inside. When locked, the key is inserted on the outside and when turning the cylinder to open, the thumb turn moves to the open position on the inside. In contrast, double cylinder deadbolts use a key cylinder both on the outside and inside of a door. This type of deadbolt precludes the door from easily being opened from the inside because without the key the cylinder cannot be turned.

The last kind of deadbolt, known as a lockable thumb turn, combines the features of a single deadbolt and double deadbolt. It has a thumb turn usually located on the inside that can operate similar to a standard single deadbolt; however, the thumb turn could also be locked with a key preventing the thumb turn from being used to  unlock door. This kind of deadbolt offers maximum security and flexibility in most situations because a child cannot turn the thumb turn and run out of the house without you know it. All our deadbolts feature effective locking mechanisms that can resist battering, physical attacks and boring. They can’t be pried open using a hand tool or knife.

Mortise Locks

Mortise or rim locks are very powerful locks found on many external doors. These locks come in heavy-duty and light-duty models. Mortise door locks are made up of a sophisticated internal system, making them locksets rather than mere locks. The locksets could house either levers or knobs and usually have a cylindrical body. Generally, the cylindrical body will house the key hole on the outside and a thumb turn on the inside.  Usually box locks are installed within the mortise hardware, a deep indentation or recess in the door’s edge.

A mortise lockset stays secure with a cam and set screw, which make up the locking mechanism and is installed into the door rather than attached to its surface. A pocket is cut into the door, so the lockset can be seated within it. Then the deadbolt and typical door latch bolt that keeps the door closed, will come through the holes in the side of the door so they can fit into the doorjamb. Being seated, rather than attached to the surface, makes the mortice lockset one of the most secure door closures available. We offer cylinder components in a variety of lengths and heights for different kinds of doors.

Knob and Lever Handle Locks

A knob lock is a common type of security door lock and is the main means of security for many interior doors. Instead of being seated in a pocket inside the door, the locking cylinder is often located within the knob. The knob lock will offer you safety inside the home and keep the kids out of the bathroom or bedroom when you need your privacy. Because the lock is part of it, knob locks should not be installed on external doors, because they could be easily broken into using tools such as a wrench or hammer.

Lever handle locks are often easier to open compared to knob locks because they feature a large-sized push down handle instead of a knob that you need to grasp and turn. In many cases, when handicap accessibility is a concern, lever handle locks are often used. The lever type handle look is also easier for the elderly and children to use to that arthritis or underdeveloped muscles don’t frustrate your user. We offer lever locks that are  ADA compliant with the flexibility feature that they can be easily changed between right and left handedness.

Average Priced Security Doors

Security doors are a great addition to any home, and they are guaranteed to provide extra protection, no matter the price. However, less expensive doors need additional maintenance and may be less attractive, and if the door will protect the way it is supposed to, you should definitely minimize costs where possible. There are many options for you to look at and also a wide variety of costs to choose from. Security is something that has different levels of concern depending on where you live, so just be sure to check the options thoroughly. Consider the wants and needs that you have and figure out where you can cut back. For example, if you don’t mind less airflow, then you might not mind a thicker frame, or if you don’t mind doing a little more maintenance on the door, then you might choose a less expensive material. If you can bring it home and install it yourself, the price will already be lower because of your own sweat equity and its ability to increase the value of your home. Investing in the right security door will help you feel just as safe and require less concern. read more

Residential Steel Security Doors

The doors that you have placed onto your home make a difference. If you just install the cheapest options you can find, more than likely you won’t be receiving the benefits you could be getting with other doors. One of the doors which will provide the most benefit is the residential steel security doors. These doors are wonderful for keeping intruders away. However, they are also great in keeping your children and pets inside too. These doors are strong and can’t be broken easily. If you want to make sure your home, family and everything in your home is safer, you should be installing the residential steel security doors, for these reasons alone. However, they look nice and don’t have the old sterile feeling of steel doors of the past due to advances in manufacturer’s production. Today’s steel security doors will last for many years and maintain that look of strength providing you with a home that is safe for your family, pets, and belongings not matter what part of the city or country you live in. read more
