How To Adjust A Pocket Door

Pocket doors are handy. They slide easily on tracks into the wall cavity. They are put into the upper portion of your door frame. These are great for saving space since they go into your wall instead of swinging outwards. This way you don’t need to have extra space in your room.

You can put your furniture wherever you see fit since the door won’t swing out to the wall. If you have a dragging pocket door or it won’t close correctly, it is time to adjust your pocket door. It can easily be raised so this isn’t a problem any longer. This home improvement project is quite easy and you don’t need much time to get it done.

How To Take Off A Pocket Door

For homeowners with limited space or for those who crave unique aesthetic style, pocket doors serve the need perfectly. Pocket doors are frameless and hollow inside, and while similar to other sliding doors, set themselves apart from the competition because they attach to the top of the door using hangars. When the door is completely opened, it is out of sight, saving space as it adds character and ambiance to your area.

Knowing how to take off a pocket door is wise because the doors can sustain a variety of damages that require proper repair to keep it working as it should. Over time, wear and tear to the door and its accompanying parts can cause the door inability to slide across the track properly, damaged pieces, and other hassles. Hiring a handyman to complete the repair work to revive the door back to working condition  is unnecessary. For most people, it’s easy to take off a pocket door themselves, with just a few tools needed, and begin those repairs.

Using the step-by-step instructions below, homeowners can learn how to take off a pocket door and complete the project themselves in about half a day. Once the door is removed, making repairs or replacing the door with an updated style is simple. The instructions below also help you replace the door after you’ve made the repairs needed Gather tools needed to remove the pocket door before the project begins. Wood Pocket Doors

Wood pocket doors are doors that are installed so that when they are opened, they slide on an upper track into spaces called pockets within the door frame. Instead of solid door jambs on the sides, they are split to contain the pockets. Wood pocket doors have been in use since the Victorian era at least, but they’ve become increasingly popular in recent years as we’ve become more conscientious about making the best use of space. Updates to the configuration of pocket doors allow them to glide into a cage or cassette that has been embedded into the wall ensuring that it will hold the door safely. Benefits of pocket doors include the ability to place your furniture just one time, but also not having a hinged door hanging out there to stub your toe on. Whether you want to maximize your floor space or you just like the look of them, wood pocket doors can be an excellent choice for your home. read more

Rustic Pocket Doors

Pocket doors are very unique in comparison to other interior doors, as they require no hinge, nor a great amount of space when opening and closing them. Because your floor and wall space can be at a premium, the fact that pocket doors don’t swing, will help you use your space more wisely. Made to serve as a space-saving solution in spaces where a door is needed, pocket doors fit into a hollow cavity known as the ‘pocket’, sliding with the help of overhead hangers and bottom rollers. If you have tight quarters in your kitchen, adding a pocket door for the pantry may help you use the space more wisely. Not like old time doors on barns or like the traditional raised panel door found in many homes, rustic pocket doors provide old-time charm that adds ambiance to any space, while the appearance blends perfectly to mesh with any decor, giving the charisma the area needs. There is little wonder why this is one of the most popular pocket door styles sold today. read more

Interior Glass Pocket Doors

In the past, pocket doors were only used as a way to conserve space in your home or business. These doors are able to provide you with added space because, they slide into the wall and do not require the floor area to be cleared like a swinging traditional hinged door does. More recently, things have changed because these doors are now thought of in a different way. They have become used by interior designers who recognize they are more beautiful that other doors and are among the most functional of all possible doors. Pocket doors offer a great design feature, as well as open the space, and if they are made from glass, they allow light to shine freely from one room to the other. Glass pocket interior doors come in many different types of glass, finishes for the frame, and frame styles. There are options such as smoked glass, transparent glass, frosted glass, and stained-glass, just to name a few. You can even benefit from a nice mirrored glass that will make the room seem even larger than it already does when the door is closed. The mirrored look provides an appearance that is crisp, distinctive, and contemporary. read more
