How To Install A Wooden Screen Door

One method to help improve airflow through your home, especially on temperate spring or fall days, is to leave your doors open. But, most people want to keep a barrier between the outside world and the interior of their home, especially if they have small children or pets. A screen door can be a perfect solution, helping to let gentle breezes come through while keeping bugs out.

Installing a wooden screen door is actually pretty simple, and most homeowners can manage this project with tools they have on hand. Plus, premade screen doors and hardware kits aren’t particularly expensive, making this a cost-effective option to make your home more comfortable.

How To Hang A Screen Door

When you are making improvements to your beautiful home, one of the best things you can do is to hang a screen door. It allows breeze to flow into your home on a hot, summer day and lets fresh air in all year long. You don’t want to leave your front or back door open without having a screen door or the bugs will come flying and crawling in. The great news is that these doors are very simple to hang and you can start this home improvement project through the steps below.

How To Fix Patio Screen Door

Having a patio door is a wonderful idea. It allows you to feel like you are close to nature without being outdoors. If you have a sliding screen door, you can get fresh air into your home without having to be outside with the bugs. There isn’t much maintenance when it comes to having a patio screen door. You just need to make sure the rollers and tracks are clean. However, sometimes the screen may get ripped and need to be fixed so critters and those pests don’t get in. Many of the newer screen doors are made a frame created with aluminum. It is very lightweight. The screen is generally fiberglass and can be stretched. This is economical but it is easy to get ripped as well. However, you can replace it quickly and easily with new materials.

Before you go to the store to get the new materials, slide your door a few times to see if anything else is broken. If your door isn’t sliding well, clean out the dirt from your door’s track and try it again. If it still won’t slide well, you will need to get newer rollers from the store. If you need to take the door off its frame, lift on it and pull the bottom part from its track.

To start replacing the ruined screen, you need to know two things right away. You need to know about the screen and the spline. The spline is the tubing made from rubber. It locks your screen into the frame’s grooving. There are many diameters in which the spline might come in. You need to make sure the new one you get is the same size as your old one. You will need the installation tool to put the new spline in as well. It has a concave and convex end to properly place the spline.

Glass Screen Doors

What the heck is a glass screen door? Well, it can be a wonderful option for people who want the benefits of a screen door but maybe not one that is so obvious. Like glass doors in general, your customizable glass screen doors will be designed to exactly fit your wants and needs. Many glass screen doors are manufactured as security doors with working door locks because they’re made of what’s called tempered glass. Also known as safety glass, tempered glass is made through rapidly heating and cooling the glass to the extremes, which makes it stronger than regular glass. That means it doesn’t shatter into shards with slivers shooting everywhere if it breaks. Instead, it breaks apart into little pebble-size pieces which can be easily swept up, something you may be familiar with if you’ve ever been involved in a car accident. Vehicle windows are also manufactured with safety glass. But why is it called a glass screen door and not a storm door? Read on… read more
