Full Pardon/Reversal of Conviction!The DCM began a polite letter campaign nine years ago to request that then Governor, Lawton Chiles review the case. It had had no merit and the trial was unconstitutional, this should have required merely a simple request. However, the matter was ignored. Additional research was done and now we have more reasons to force this issue.
One fact often overlooked about the 1969 event referred to as the "Miami Incident" is that no matter what happened at that concert or how you feel about the man himself, the prosecution and agencies involved in this matter denied James Douglas Morrison his constitutional rights! The US Government, OUR Government, misused their power and nothing has been done to rectify the situation. This type of activity continues to be a threat to all.
Whether you're interested in Jim Morrison as a member of the Doors, a "follower" of the concepts the group expressed, a scholar who recognizes his gift of poetry and/or an "activist" who wishes to fight against the denial of rights guaranteed under our Constitution, this matter NEEDS YOUR VOICE! It is time to do that which Jim himself had professed to be of great importance to him: CLEAR HIS NAME!! Two articles are presented: ; the first shows the incident with emphasizes on political issues that make it of tantamount concern for all US Citizens; the second views the "incident" emphasizing events/attitudes of the era.
