The 21st Century Doors:
      Harley-Davidson Open Road Tour
California Speedway, Fontana, CA
September 6, 2002

by Adam Dara

Seeing The Doors live was an event I have always dreamed of. I saw the Doors play at California Speedway during the Harley Davidson 100th anniversary party. I have been a strong doors fan since about 1988 when I graduated high school. My father saw them in 1967 in Los Angeles. He was very happy to see a movie made about them. He told me that he was very popular during his era and really enjoyed all of his music. My father was born and raised in Southern California like myself, so his word means a lot.

Let me just say when I saw Jim on the huge video screens at the concert, my heart was pounding, but nothing like it was when Jim Ladd annonunced them. 'Roadhouse Blues' pounded the crowd. Ian Astbury is my favorite singer who is alive. What a dream it was seeing him hit the stage and sing for Jim. I have gone to cover band shows several times to see and hear the music, nothing felt better to my soul than seeing those two original members with Ian repeating his poetry in music.

Thank you New Doors, will see you soon.
