April 26, 2003: a date that I will remember forever.
For 13 years I have been a Doors fan and always wished that I had lived back in the 60s to see them. Well, I never imagined that I would be able to. When I learned that they were touring I was constantly checking to see when and where they were playing. At that time they only had a few concerts listed on their website and I thought that I had better see them soon. So I was off to Philadelphia. I flew about 700 miles for approximately 2 ½ hours of music. The value of our tickets was $95 but after airfare, car rental, and hotel the final tally was $1000. Some might call me foolish and many just don’t understand how I could spend so much in order to see a concert— even without Jim. On my return I told them that it was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Actually I am seriously considering repeating the experience. They are playing at Red Rocks in Colorado and I am thinking of seeing them again out there. At the start I had reservations about Jim not being there however during “Roadhouse Blues” all those doubts were put to rest. Ray and Robby are still as talented today as they were 35 years ago. The homage they paid to Jim at the beginning gave me goosebumps. I must say that this was the best concert I have ever been to and I think that I have been ruined for life on all other concerts now because they’ll have a lot to live up to. I went with my boyfriend who likes The Doors, though not like me, and when he left he even admitted that it was one of the best concerts he has ever seen. I would like to thank Ray and Robby for going out there and touring again. Thank you.
