The 21st Century Doors:
Boston Orpheum,
Boston, MA
April 25, 2003

by John A McReynolds

Having been a Doors fan since I was 5 years old (The Doors first album), I have longed to see the band 'live'. Well, the opportunity came up last year, so 2 friends and I went to the Orpheum Theater in Boston to check 'em out!

My friends were highly skeptical about what the show would be like, and I must admit that I was a bit anxious after paying $70 each for balcony seats. I was crossing my fingers that we would not be disappointed.

Now, this was during the period when John Densmore was suing the rest of the guys, and Stuart was out with his injury, and things were looking a bit shaky for the band.

Well, we went to dinner before the show, and my friends were not concerned about getting there on time (That was a mistake!).

When we arrived, the band was playing 'Break on Through', and we sprinted to our seats, screaming the lyrics at the top of our lungs, with huge grins on our faces. The rest of the show was a bit of a blur, but, my prior admiration for Robby's artistry did not diminnish - His playing was fabulous. Ray was a bit of a showman, and Ian did an admirable job on vocals. Simply put, they ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Soul Kitchen' was a gas, and I would love to see them again. It's a different animal, but sill a great time.
