The 21st Century Doors:
Roseland Ballroom,
New York City, NY
April 24, 2003

by Christian DeBonville

I went to the April 24th show in NYC at the Roseland Ballroom. I was a bit skeptical, probably not expecting too much, but when I heard about the show I absolutely had to go. I am so glad I went- it was undoubtedly the best concert I have ever been to. I was in the 5th row with my fiancee- who is not really a Doors fan, but she loved it too. We even caught Robby Krieger's guitar pick at the end of the show (she did actually)!

When they came out for 'Roadhouse Blues' I got the chills. Everyone at the concert seemed so happy! It was truly an incredible blend of people - at least three generations of Doors fans all bonding over the music they loved - music they never thought they would hear in a live setting.

The show was great, Robby and Ray were fantastic and Ian won everyone over. It was a fantastic show for both nostalgic reasons and because this band could still rock. I can't wait to see what the future brings for the Doors - I don't care what the mainstream media may say - these guys can play and if this brings them happiness, they should keep doing it because I know that 95% of the fans who are going to these shows are glad they did. I know I am.
