Freeman Coliseum San Antonio, TX March 30, 2003 by Brad Greene |

I have never seen a crowd act like that before. There
couldn't have been more than 2,000 people in the audience
at Freeman Coliseum where I saw The Doors of the 21st
Century play last night, but every single one of them went
wild. Ian Astbury did a superb job in Morrison's place,
jumping all over the stage. Ray and Robby played as only
they can, stretching each song out to at least 10 minutes
in length.
A real treat was halfway through the show Ray said they were going to be releasing new Doors CDs with new songs, and then played one for us, saying it was the first time that song had ever been performed in public. It was perfect for the occasion as the venue was cop-infested at the beginning. They watched to make sure no one even smoked a cigarette and the lyrics stopped each cop in their tracks to look at Astbury to see if he said what they thought he said: "The cop says no, what does he say? I'll listen today!" The crowd went nuts. Best concert I've seen. No one makes an audience interact like The Doors.
