I got to the show at eight though I wanted to get there
an hour earlier, and I should have, because the guy next
to me did and saw Ray perform for about twenty
minutes. He told me that he played an unreleased song
that was a tribute to Jim and that Ray someday wanted
to release it. (Maybe)
The Doors of the 21st Century came to the stage at around nine o'clock and started in with 'Road House Blues.' They played 'Break on Through,' 'When the Music's Over,' 'Love Me Two Times,' 'Back Door Man,' 'Five to One' (with 'Dead Cats, Dead Rats'), 'Get Up Stand Up' (Bob Marley), 'Whiskey Bar,' 'Ghost Song' (with dancing Indians), 'Maggie M'Gill,' and A NEW SONG, called 'COPS' that Ray wants to put on a NEW DOORS ALBUM. It was about listening and really bluesy--Ray said they've never performed it live before). We also heard 'Horse Latitudes,' 'Moonlight Drive,' a flamenco solo with Robby that led into 'Spanish Caravan,' 'L.A. Woman,' of course 'Light My Fire,' and then they came back for an encore and performed 'Riders on the Storm,' and 'Wild Child.' They then left the stage and came back again about a minute later and played 'Soul Kitchen.' IT WAS AWESOME! Now about Ian... HE DID AN AWESOME JOB. He did his own thing, which I love, but still kept the spirit of Jim. Ian said that he was sick and had caught "Dallas Fever" the night before. It did show because when he first came out he was a little stiff and didn't move around too much, but after the third song he said he was feeling better and took off his shades and started moving and a-grooving. Ray and Robby were awesome and the drummer and bassist did an outstanding job too! The drummer's kit looked just like John's. It was gold and labeled Doors 21st century. But the best part is I got my camera in and took two rolls of film--memories for a lifetime!
