ALso great live versions of 'Gloria' and the 'Build Me A Woman' medley and of course a stellar 'The End'. This is one of the best discs in the box. Highly recommended! Cond: M-

Includes liner notes by Ralph Sall, Danny Sugerman, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek & John Densmore. STONED IMMACULATE is much better than the average tribute album. Not only is it more cleverly conceived; along with the contemporary and classic bands performing in homage to the Doors, there are works by artists who influenced the seminal Morrison-led group. There's nary a dud track here! Creed's "Riders on the Storm" reinterprets the song's chorus brilliantly--some think actually an improvment over the original. Other highlights include Aerosmith's letter-perfect Xerox of "Love Me Two Times" (a song they were born to play), William S. Burrough's appropriately sepulchral recitation of "Is Everybody In?" and Stone Temple Pilots' nicely metallic take on "Break on Through." Recommended! Cond: M- |

This CD proves the timelessness of The Door's music! It resonates in the halls of modern classical music just as well as in a leather-clad rocker's headphones. The arrangements by Jaz Coleman found his voice - more accurately Morrison's voice, in the violin of rebel viruoso Nigel Kennedy. The result is incendirary. Coleman in the liner notes even comes off a bit mad in Doors ecstacy as he describes choosing Kennedy because like Morrison, he understands the rites of the Dionysian mysteries. But like The Doors, after one gets over the myth of the performers, we find that the music is extremely potent and effective. Very recommended! Cond: M- |

The set list includes 17 newly remastered songs from the studio LPs (and one from An American Prayer) and an outtake of the newly released Indian Summer from the Perception box set. It comes complete with a 16 page booklet telling a short history of The Doors and describing each of the 18 tracks. Each is in shrink wrapped mint condition & is destined to be a classic. |
